That's really only one word that can describe last night for me. Kris put on a comedy show at the Big Sky Showroom at the Stampede Casino. This was Kris's first show so some hiccups were expected. People weren't seated in the right spots at first, and he ran out of tables and chairs to seat everyone. That was quickly sorted out thanks to the casino staff and Kris's volunteers!
While that was going on, I was taking photos in the "green room" of the comedians and hanging out with them. I must say, that I was impressed...they were all a great bunch of guys and hilariouis even when they're not on stage!!
It started out with Ben Morgan, an AMAZINGLY funny local, Calgarian comedian. Next up was Chris Gordon, another accomplished local comedian. Dave Merheje from Toronto provided a great show, then the headliner Ron Josol made the crowd almost cry! (actually I'm quite sure I saw a couple of girls and guys crying with laughter).
The after party was a little quieter than I thought it would be, but I got to chill out with some other comedians that were in the crowd, and the comedians from the night. Handed out a lot of cards so hopefully this will pay off in the long run. :)
Not only was this a special night for me (ended up shooting 1505 photos!!!!) as I was photographing my first live comedy show (and got a photo in the Calgary Sun on Friday!), I got to meet a TON of new people, whom I hope will become friends. It was also a special night for Kris, who's energy, enthusiasm, and motivation, really goes to show that if you want something, you just have to take it.
I will have photos up on my site, and on facebook soon, so please check both sites next week. As always, I would like to hear your feedback on both the positives and negatives of my shots, so please feel free to comment.
